MANAGER'S VOICE

From childhood and for many years afterwards, I played the violin, fretless bass and other stringed instruments. I think one of the attractions of stringed instruments is that one can create sounds based on one’s own sensibilities. Take the sound of C for example: If you hit C on the piano keyboard, it will always produce the sound of C. This is different with a stringed instrument, though, where the sound of C can contain a range of tones. This is why C can be expressed with slight variations, depending on subtle differences in the way a player’s fingers are held down and how hard they press. This represents the player’s originality and makes for a more deeply expressive performance. And, depending on the receptiveness of the listener and their sensitivity to the tone produced by the musician, it can create a thrill of infinite breadth.

I think in this way the services and other offerings at mesm Tokyo resemble how sound is produced on a stringed instrument. We have been on a journey, a unique “sound search” that sets us slightly apart from the standard hotel. For example, there are digital pianos in all of our guest rooms, and the music played throughout the hotel is not background music that guests just happen to hear, but foreground music intended to remain in our guests’ memories. Further, the uniforms worn by our talent (the hotel staff) are of a stylish, unisex design all in black. Here at mesm Tokyo, our one-of-a-kind services and other offerings are filled with a sense of fun and excitement. We hope that each of our guests will follow their own hearts in enjoying the highly original experiences that mesm Tokyo has to offer. And we would be happy if, in the time you spend here in these spaces, you will discover a luxurious experience of even higher quality and greater emotional resonance. Based on the TOKYO WAVES concept, all of us at mesm Tokyo hope to continue our “sound search” so that we might surprise, amuse and thrill our guests in a way that only mesm Tokyo can.
